The Latin word florilegium literally means a gathering of flowers. Adapted from a Greek word of the same meaning (anthologia = 'anthology'), the florilegium developed into a common medieval genre: a gathering of literary flowers from other writings or from a larger work. Florilegiums are always very personal collections reflecting the interests, focus and preoccupations of the collector. This is my modern, digital version.
There are currently 17 themes in this florilegium... On Pithies, On Nature, On Art, Design & The Humanities, On Science & Technology, On Conflict, Violence & War, On Dialogue & Argument, On Ethics & Values, On Happiness, On Language & Words, On Laws & Principles, On Life & Living, On Mind & Thought, On Mortality & Death, On Politics & Power, On Religion & Belief, On Society & Culture, On The Self... but it's a work still in progress so expect to see the list grow!
